Fear as two gunmen attack the Taraba community

There has been a resurgence of apprehension in the Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, where pockets of insecurity have again resurfaced.

The latest incident occurred in Chinkai Village, where marauders struck on Wednesday, killing two persons.

This attack took place in the same Wukari LGA, Taraba State Governor  Agbu Kefas’ birthplace, two days after an 18-year-old POS operator was fatally stabbed by a thief.

Ismaila Dauda, the LGA Chairman, verified the occurrence over WhatsApp to reporters.

He said “On June 19, 2024, two people were killed in Chinkai town by bandits who broke into the town and began firing sporadically.

However, soldiers were mobilized to Chinkai, but before they got there, the bandits had left the town.

Ezekiel Musa, the leader of Chinkai village, also spoke and urged the state governor to see to it that additional security personnel are sent to their area.

DSP Gambo Kwache, the Taraba State Police Command spokesperson, verified the event when reached.

In order to stop such attacks, she said, the community has put security measures in place
