Federal Government Launches Ministerial Press Briefings to Enhance Transparency and Accountability

The Federal Government has officially launched a series of ministerial press briefings aimed at promoting greater transparency and accountability in governance.

The initiative, announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to engage the public and provide regular updates on government activities.

Idris revealed that President Bola Tinubu had directed all ministers to periodically appear before the media to share developments in their respective ministries, update citizens on ongoing policies, and address any public concerns.

“The briefings will provide ministers with the opportunity to directly engage with Nigerians, offer insights into their ministries’ work, and respond to pressing issues that matter to the public,” Idris explained.

In addition to these briefings, other ministers will take turns speaking weekly, ensuring a continuous flow of information to the public. The move, which coincides with the second anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration, underscores the government’s commitment to keeping citizens well-informed about its policies, actions, and future plans.
