Two people were severely burnt and six vehicles affected following a gas explosion at an ExxonMobil retail outlet on Obafemi Awolowo Road, beside the Airport Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
The inferno also affected the second floor of a two-storey building near the petrol station.
According to emergency responders, the incident occurred on Thursday about 10a.m when a gas tanker was trying to offload its content into the station’s storage facility.
There were no reported deaths, however the two adult males affected have been taken to the nearest hospital.
The Agency’s Response Team, along with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, NEMA, LASBCA,LASEMA and Nigeria police, are currently on the scene.
The fire has been put out by the Agency’s LRT and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
The road has now been cordoned off to allow for clean-up of the station and its environs.
