Fire guts two-storey building in Anambra

The Anambra State Fire Service is currently responding to a fire outbreak at Ifejika Street, near Sokoto Road, Onitsha.

The fire, which started at around 6:20 am in one of the buildings, has since spread to a nearby structure, causing significant damage.

While the cause of the fire is still unknown, residents, passersby, and fire service personnel on the scene have been seen working together to rescue properties and goods from the affected buildings, despite the challenging conditions. Some onlookers also offered assistance in salvaging items as the fire continued to spread.

The Head of the Media and Publicity Unit of the Anambra State Fire Service, Chukwudi Chiketa has confirmed the incident in a brief message on Friday. He urged residents and the public to remain calm as firefighters continue to battle the blaze, assuring that every effort is being made to bring the situation under control.

The team is focused on preventing further spread and minimizing the damage to nearby structures.
