The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has called on the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC) to focus on one project at a time in order to make a meaningful impact. He made this statement on Friday when he received the newly appointed members of the commission, led by the CEO, Emeka Nworgu, at the governor’s lodge in Awka.
Soludo emphasized the importance of concentrating on specific initiatives in the next five years and ensuring effective delivery mechanisms to provide real value to the people. He advised the commission to adopt a focused approach, starting with one key project, such as the SouthEast rail network to connect all state capitals. Once successfully completed, they could then move on to the next priority project.
“We should not waste this opportunity,” Soludo stated. “If you spread yourselves too thin by attempting to achieve too many things at once, projects may be abandoned, and after five years, you’ll be left asking, what was achieved? So, focus on one goal, deliver it, and then move to the next. This will allow the SEDC to stand out from the rest.”
Soludo also urged the commission to collaborate closely with South-East governors to ensure significant progress.
Earlier, Nworgu, the CEO of the SEDC, commended Soludo for his notable achievements in the health, education, and infrastructure sectors. The Managing Director of the SEDC, Mark Okoye, also reiterated the commission’s commitment to positioning the South-East region as a leading investment hub to drive sustainable development and economic growth.
