Footballer slumps, dies during training in Enugu

A promising football player named Chisom Oodo passed away on Sunday at Ogrute, the administrative centre of the Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area in Enugu State, from what appeared to be a heart attack.

Chisom, a football player in his early 20s, collapsed and passed away after a regular practice against a rival.

When the event occurred, he was reportedly on his way to the training from his rural residence, Aji, which is located in the same local government area of Enugu State.

The late Chisom’s talent was discovered during the Enugu-Ezike Football Tournament last Christmas when he displayed exceptional qualities in the field of play.

Franklin Onyeoma, a fan of the late Chisom, disclosed that the deceased was selected as one of the players to be sent to Europe by a scout, adding that his passport and visa was ready for him to travel out before the tragic incident happened.

He said that the incident has enveloped the whole community with sadness and sorrow.
