Mike Tyson has paid tribute to the legendary George Foreman, who passed away at 76, expressing his admiration for Foreman’s contributions to boxing. The former heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist, who claimed his first heavyweight title with a dominant victory over Joe Frazier in 1973, left a lasting impact on the sport.
Tyson shared his condolences through a social media post, which included photos of the two icons together. In his tribute, Tyson said, “Condolences to George Foreman’s family. His contribution to boxing and beyond will never be forgotten.”
Foreman, who was married five times, leaves behind a large family, including 12 children. His daughters—Natalia, Leola, Michi, Isabella, Courtney, Georgetta, and Freeda (who tragically passed away in 2019)—along with five sons, all named George Edward Foreman, carry on his legacy.
He is survived by his fifth wife, Mary Joan Martelly, whom he married in 1985, as well as his children. Foreman’s influence on the sport and his inspiration to many fighters will continue to be remembered for years to come.
