Former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy has tragically died in what authorities believe was a suicide, following a police chase in Houston. The 24-year-old was found deceased in his car late Saturday night after it crashed during the pursuit, according to a report released Sunday by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Lacy had recently been facing criminal charges related to a fatal car accident that occurred in Louisiana last December, casting uncertainty over his future NFL career. Despite the legal troubles, he had declared for the upcoming NFL draft and was coming off a strong season, having led LSU in receiving touchdowns with nine.

In a statement, LSU expressed deep sorrow over Lacy’s death: “We’re saddened to learn of the tragic passing of former LSU football student-athlete Kyren Lacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones, as well as his former teammates and coaches impacted by his passing.”
