Former Presidential Aide Doyin Okupe Dies at 72

A former presidential aide and a well-known Nigerian political figure Doyin Okupe, has passed away at the age of 72.

Reports indicate that the veteran politician died on Friday morning after struggling with a prolonged illness, which is believed to be cancer.

Okupe, who had a long-standing career in Nigerian politics, was appointed as the Director-General of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign for the 2023 election.

However, he was forced to step down from this position after a court convicted him on charges of alleged money laundering.

Sources close to the family revealed that Okupe had been critically ill in the weeks preceding his death. His passing marks the end of a significant chapter in Nigerian political history, as he was known for his influential roles in various administrations over the years.
