Four Nigerian Descent Students Sentenced for Violent Disorder in Leicester

Four students of Nigerian descent have been sentenced for their involvement in a violent altercation in Leicester on November 4, 2021, which left an 18-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.

The incident, which involved knives and a baseball bat, occurred in the early hours on New Park Street and escalated into a large fight.

Following an investigation that included CCTV footage, phone tracking, and public appeals, the suspects were identified and charged.

Destiny Ojo, 21, from Plumstead, London, was sentenced to seven years for violent disorder, attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH), and GBH with intent.

Habib Lawal, 21, from Bexley, London, received a five-year sentence for similar charges.

Ridwanulahi Raheem, 21, from Lambeth, London, was sentenced to three years for violent disorder and possession of a bladed article, while Joshua Davies-Ero, 21, from Bexley, London, received a two-year sentence for violent disorder.

A fifth defendant, Justin Asamoah, 22, from Merton, pleaded guilty to possessing a bladed article and will be sentenced on November 22.

Detective Constable Sean Downey praised the investigation and highlighted the potential for more severe consequences if the situation had escalated further.
