The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Malam Shehu Mohammed, has approved the deployment of 1,500 personnel and 25 patrol vehicles for the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State on November 16.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO), Olusegun Ogungbemide, on Thursday in Abuja.
Malam Shehu Mohammed said that the deployment is part of the FRSC’s efforts to enforce movement restrictions and other electoral laws during the election. He directed FRSC officers and personnel to work closely with other security agencies to ensure full compliance with restrictions on vehicular movement.
The Corps Marshal further outlined that the personnel would be tasked with clearing road obstructions, conducting rescue operations in case of emergencies, and maintaining order around polling stations. “Adequate mobilization has been made for personnel and operational tools, including the deployment of 25 patrol vehicles, 7 tow trucks, and 6 ambulances,” he said.
Mohammed emphasized that these efforts are crucial to ensuring a smooth election process, with the FRSC playing an active role in enforcing movement restrictions throughout the duration of the election.
He also stressed the importance of professionalism, urging FRSC personnel to avoid any actions that could infringe upon the rights of voters or compromise the integrity of the election.
