Governor of Rivers State Siminalayi Fubara has suspended the caretaker committee chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area Otonye Briggs effective immediately.
The announcement was made in a statement by Nelson Chukwudi, the governor’s spokesperson, on Tuesday.
The statement did not provide specific reasons for Briggs’ suspension.
Governor Fubara has appointed Bitebobo Nelson Amieye to succeed Briggs as the caretaker committee chairman.
Additionally, Briggs has been directed to hand over all council properties currently in his possession to Amieye without delay.
