Fuel Tanker Explosion in Niger Causes Panic

A fuel tanker exploded in Kontagora, Niger State, on Sunday, causing panic among residents and motorists in the area.

The incident occurred near AA Rano, opposite Kontagora General Hospital. Eyewitnesses reported that the tanker suddenly burst into flames, sending thick black smoke into the sky.

Fortunately, no casualties were recorded. Firefighters and emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene and worked to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures. Despite the intensity of the blaze, only the tanker was destroyed.

The Director of Information at the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) Hussaini Ibrahim, reassured the public that the situation was under control. Speaking to Channels Television, he confirmed that no lives were lost, and no property other than the tanker was damaged.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion. Preliminary reports suggest a possible mechanical fault or leakage may have triggered the fire.
