
Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have sent their congratulations to Victor Osimhen following his outstanding performance in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Rwanda in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
Osimhen, 26, scored both goals for the Super Eagles, helping secure the crucial win. With this brace, the striker climbed to second place on Nigeria’s all-time top scorers list, surpassing the legendary Segun Odegbami and now sitting just behind Rashidi Yekini.
Osimhen has now netted 25 goals in 37 appearances for the national team, while Yekini holds the record with 37 goals in 58 matches. Odegbami scored 23 goals in 46 games for Nigeria.
Galatasaray took to social media to celebrate their player’s achievement, posting, “Congratulations to our player Victor Osimhen who scored 2 goals against Rwanda in Group C of the 2026 World Cup CAF Qualifiers, leading his country Nigeria to victory! Congratulations, @victorosimhen9.”
Looking ahead, Nigeria will host Zimbabwe’s Warriors in their next qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday.
