Gas Leak cause traffic diversion inward barrack bus stop in Surulere

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service says that it is containing a gas leak that occurred on Western Avenue, inside the barracks bus stop in Surulere, Lagos, as a result of a tanker experiencing a problem with the top inlet of its compartment while the tanker was in motion.

The Director of the service, Adeseye Margaret, stated this in an emergency alert on Saturday.

“While the Agency was alerted at 09:04hours Saturday, the Ilupeju Fire Station with their quick response ameliorated the situation with a chemical foam compound to forestall ignition and any eventuality of a secondary emergency,” the statement said.

“This incident had led to the diversion of traffic as other emergency responders have teamed up with the State Fire and Rescue to avert disaster as traffic were diverted from the Barracks end and Stadium section of Western Avenue.

“There is no record of casualty, and update will follow as the situation unfolds.”
