Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has signed the 2025 budget of ₦790 billion into law, just ten days after presenting the draft proposal to the State House of Assembly. The budget is centered on rural development, with ₦551,582,867,194 allocated for capital expenditure and ₦238,856,712,888.86 for recurrent expenditure.
After signing the budget, Governor Sani praised the Kaduna State House of Assembly for its swift approval of the 2025 budget within just ten days of its presentation. He acknowledged that the legislature had invited all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to defend their budget proposals in detailed sessions, which were robust and thorough. Ultimately, the 2025 budget was passed successfully.
“Here in Kaduna State, I can say without fear of contradiction that we have the best House of Assembly in the country. Despite having both APC and PDP legislators, they have set aside politics and focused solely on governance, which I find highly commendable,” the governor said.
He continued, “About ten days ago, I presented the 2025 budget proposal to the House. All MDAs defended their budgets, and I followed the debate closely. It was one of the most thorough budget defenses in Kaduna’s history. The legislature passed the appropriation bill in just ten days, and this is something I will continue to be proud of.”
Governor Sani further praised the Assembly’s overall performance, noting their sponsorship of numerous motions and bills. “As a former Senator with the highest number of bills in the last Senate, I sponsored over 32 bills. No one can appreciate the work of our lawmakers better than me,” he added.
Earlier, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Yusuf Liman, described the signing of the 2025 budget as a significant achievement for the Assembly. He stated that the budget proposal had undergone thorough scrutiny before being passed and expressed gratitude to the governor for collaborating with the Assembly to deliver democratic benefits to the people of Kaduna State.
Liman also acknowledged that Governor Sani had not only continued with several abandoned projects but had initiated several new, commendable ones. He particularly highlighted the governor’s focus on rural development.
Providing a breakdown of the 2025 budget, the Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Alhaji Mukhtar Ahmed Morovia, revealed that Education received the largest share of the budget at 26%, followed by Health with 16%. Public Infrastructure and Agriculture were allocated 13% and 9.5%, respectively. These allocations reflect the administration’s commitment to human capital development and agriculture.
