In a ceremony filled with esteemed dignitaries and political leaders, Governor Duoye Diri has been sworn in for his second term in office as the Governor of Bayelsa State.
The inauguration took place at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, with Governor Diri and his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, taking their oaths of office administered by the State Chief Judge, Justice Matilda Ayemieye.
Among the notable personalities in attendance were Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan alongside his wife, Patience Jonathan.
Also present was the Vice President of Liberia, Jeremiah Koung, alongside several governors from various states including Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, and Godwin Obaseki of Edo.
The event was further graced by former Senate Presidents Bukola Saraki and Adolfus Wabara, who currently serves as the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, along with other national and state leaders of the party.
Governor Diri’s reelection comes after he secured a total of 175,196 votes in the previous election, defeating his main rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress.
Governor Diri’s second term inauguration marks a continuation of his leadership in Bayelsa State, as he pledges to uphold the mandate entrusted to him by the people and continue working towards the development and prosperity of the state.
