Governor Sanwo-Olu Pays Condolence Visit to the Family of Ayodele Adebanjo

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has visited the family of the late Ayodele Adebanjo, the revered leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, to offer his condolences.

Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, made the visit as the Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum and also in his capacity as Governor of Lagos State. The information was shared by Sanwo-Olu’s Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, in a post on X.com on Tuesday.

In the post, Gawat stated, “Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside his Deputy, Obafemi Kadir Hamzat, and other top Lagos State Government officials, today paid a condolence visit to the home and family of Chief Samuel Ayodele Adebanjo (1928-2025).”

He further noted that the governor was visiting both in his official role as Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum and as the Governor of Lagos State.

The condolence visit comes after the passing of Pa Adebanjo, whose contributions to the Yoruba community and Nigeria were celebrated by a host of dignitaries. Notable figures such as former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Emeka Anyaoku, were among the dignitaries present at the commendation service held at Pa Adebanjo’s Lekki residence on Sunday.
