Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has unveiled a proposed budget of N790 billion for the year 2025, highlighting a strategic focus on key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and agriculture.
The proposal, presented to the Kaduna State House of Assembly on Monday, addresses the state’s current financial challenges and outlines a resource allocation plan aimed at driving development and improving the welfare of residents.
In his budget breakdown, Governor Sani allocated a significant N553 billion for Capital Expenditure and N237 billion for Recurrent Expenditure. A notable 26.14% of the budget, totaling N206.6 billion, is earmarked for education. This funding will support the construction of new schools, the rehabilitation of existing facilities, teacher recruitment, capacity development, and the provision of essential learning materials.
For healthcare, the governor proposed an allocation of N127 billion (16.07% of the total budget) to upgrade medical facilities, procure equipment, and expand mobile healthcare services to improve access to quality healthcare across the state.
On infrastructure, N106 billion (13.14%) is dedicated to continuing road construction projects, rural electrification, and enhancing water supply systems. Agriculture is another priority, with N74 billion (9.36%) allocated to support innovation, smallholder farmers, agro-processing initiatives, and irrigation projects to boost food production and economic growth.
Security has also been prioritized with an allocation of N11.2 billion to strengthen state security agencies and enhance community policing efforts. Additionally, the budget includes N9.8 billion (1.24%) for social welfare programs aimed at expanding safety nets for vulnerable populations.
Governor Sani emphasized that the budget is designed to address the pressing needs of the state while fostering sustainable growth and improving the overall quality of life for the people of Kaduna.
