Griezmann announces retirement from international football

Antoine Griezmann, one of France’s most decorated players, has officially retired from international football.

The 33-year-old attacker concludes a historic career with the French national team, where he gained 137 caps, 44 goals, and 38 assists.

Griezmann played a crucial role in France’s triumphs on the global stage, including winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2021 UEFA Nations League. He also claimed the Golden Boot at the 2016 UEFA European Championship.

In his farewell statement accompanied by a video posted on X on Monday, Griezmann said, “It is with a heart full of memories that I close this chapter of my life. Thank you for this magnificent tricolour adventure, and see you soon.”

His retirement marks the end of an era for French football, as Griezmann’s contributions have been pivotal in shaping the team’s success over the past decade.
