Seven travelers were abducted along the Benin-Owo-Akure Road in the Ifon area of Ose Local Government Area, Ondo State.
The incident occurred late on Friday night, with the victims reportedly traveling from Akwa Ibom State to the South West when they were kidnapped by armed assailants.
According to the state’s police spokesperson, the abduction took place around 11:50 PM on January 31, when the victims, traveling in a commercial bus, were intercepted by the gunmen.
Authorities have since launched a rescue operation to secure the release of the captives and apprehend the perpetrators. Efforts are ongoing to locate and free the victims.
In another related incident, a group of 10 travelers was abducted along the Owo-Ipele Road.
The abduction took place early Saturday morning around midnight, when the victims’ vehicles were stopped by the gunmen, who forced them into the bush and took them to an unknown location.
