Hoffenheim agree deal to sign Super Eagles star Orban from Lyon

Super Eagles star Gift Orban is closing in on a move to Hoffenheim after the German side agreed a deal with Lyon for his signing.

Orban joined Lyon from Genk during the 2024 January transfer window but has since failed to hit the ground running.

The Nigerian international had a fallout with the manager, limiting his playing time at the club.

However, despite his poor form, the forward has drawn interest from Hoffenheim, who are keen to sign him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a club-to-club agreement has been reached between TSG Hoffenheim and Olympique Lyonnais for the transfer of Gift Orban.

To finalise the deal, the German Bundesliga team are currently awaiting a decision from the 22-year-old striker.

Hoffenheim are currently in 15th place on the table and at risk of dropping to the relegation zone in the Bundesliga.

They have only managed to score 20 goals in 15 league games, which is largely due to their ineffectiveness in the final third.

Andrej Kramarić, the team’s top scorer, has only scored six league goals this season, underscoring the pressing need to bolster their offensive alternatives.

Since Orban is deemed surplus at Lyon, Hoffenheim are trying to take advantage of the chance to sign him.

Orban has only made five appearances for Lyon in all competitions this season and has scored two goals.
