I Was Almost Shot For Calling Osimhen A Big Star — South Africa Coach

Hugo Broos, the head coach of South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, disclosed that he was almost shot by football fans in the country after claiming Victor Osimhen, not Percy Tau, is an outstanding star.

Broos rated Osimhen and Senegal talisman Sadio Mane higher than Tau, who is Bafana Bafana’s biggest star.

His submission drew harsh criticism from South African supporters.

“They almost shot me for it, because I said that Percy Tau is not a big player,” Broos began his story in Sjotcast.

“When I talk about a great player, I think of Mané of Senegal or Osimhen of Nigeria

“The (South African) press then turns Percy Tau into a real star player.

“Strangely enough, Tau was criticized afterwards for not playing well.”

Broos also said he almost quit the team after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire due to harsh media criticism.

South Africa came third at the competition.

“That is always something that hurts. They accused me of having no respect for the nation and of not knowing African culture,” he added
