The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is set to launch the “School Protection Squad” initiative in Ogun State, aimed at enhancing the security of schools across the state.
The unveiling will take place during a two-day event, scheduled for November 26-27, 2024, themed “Capacity Building for Security Agencies and Other Stakeholders.”
The initiative, as outlined by the Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, will provide stakeholders with an in-depth look at the proactive measures the Nigeria Police Force has implemented to ensure the safety of schools. These measures include rapid response teams, vehicular patrols, and security orientation sessions for students, school principals, and other educational stakeholders.
The event will see the participation of various security agencies, government officials, traditional rulers, and private sector representatives, all working together to ensure the protection of educational institutions. The public is invited to follow the event live on the police’s official social media platforms on both days, beginning at 10:00 AM.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to address growing concerns around school safety, and the event will serve as a platform for discussions, information sharing, and the development of new strategies to enhance the security of children in schools across Ogun State.
