 Iheanacho set for Sevilla Medical

Ahead of he is expected to join seven-time UEFA Europa League champion Sevilla, Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho is scheduled for a physical.

Iheancho became a free agent on June 30th after his contract with Leicester City, an English Premier League team, expired.

The Nigerian forward is available, but it has taken him some time to sign with a new team despite strong interest from teams in the Saudi Pro League, Turkish Super League, and English Premier League.

Premier League sides Ipswich Town, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest were reportedly interested, as were Turkish clubs Besiktas and Trabzonspor.

The former Manchester City forward has piqued the interest of many European clubs looking to bolster their squads with his signing.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Iheanacho and Sevilla have agreed on a two-year deal.

As per Soccernet, the Nigeria international is scheduled to travel to Spain for his medical on Tuesday night and will sign with the La Liga giants on Wednesday.

An official announcement by the club is expected to follow after the medical and the signing of his contract.

Sevilla has continued to strengthen its bond with Nigerian football by first signing Chidera Ejuke, and now, with Iheanacho’s imminent transfer, the connection deepens.

The club also signed another agreement with the Nigeria Premier Football League on the training of coaches and young Nigerian players.
