Inauguration 2023: Sanwo-Olu takes second term oath of office

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has taken the oath of office to begin second term in office, assuring Lagosians that he will do his best to remain worthy of the mandate of the people of the state.

The governor, who arrived the Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan venue of the inauguration ceremony at exactly 10:13am, was sworn-in with his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

Amid pomp and pageantry, the governor took his oath of office administered by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, at exactly 11: 41am, while the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, earlier took his oath of office at 11:32am.

Sanwo-Olu was declared the winner of the 2023 governorship election having polled 762,134 votes, while his closest rival, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, polled 312,329 votes. The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olajide Adediran, came third with 62,449 votes.

The 15th governor of Lagos State later inspected the combined parade of the Nigeria Police Force and paramilitary and voluntary organisations in the rain.

In his inaugural speech after the swearing-in ceremony, Sanwo-Olu further assured Lagosians of a brighter rewarding future.
