INEC Announces PVC Collection Ahead of Ondo State Governorship Election

In preparation for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) will begin on Thursday across all 203 wards in the state.

The Commission also noted that during this period, uncollected PVCs from previous registrations will be available at designated collection centers.

INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee Sam Olumekun, confirmed this in a statement released on Monday.

Olumekun emphasized that registered voters must collect their PVCs in person and reminded the public that no cards would be issued by proxy. He stated, “We are pleased to announce that after the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Ondo State and subsequent data cleaning, PVCs for all certified registrants have been printed and delivered to our State office in Akure.”

PVCs will be available at 221 collection centers across the state, organized in two phases. The first phase will run from Thursday, October 17, to Monday, October 21, 2024, in all 203 wards. The second phase will take place from Wednesday, October 23, to Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the 18 Local Government Area (LGA) offices, with collection times from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, including weekends.

Olumekun further detailed that a total of 89,777 new PVCs have been printed, comprising 58,708 for new voters and 31,069 for applicants needing transfers, updates, or replacements of lost or damaged cards. To assist voters, the Commission will post the register of new voters at collection centers and upload the entire collection register on its website, enabling easy access to information about names and collection locations.
