Israel Calls Amnesty Accusation of Genocide in Gaza ‘Entirely False’
Israel has dismissed as “entirely false” an Amnesty International report that accused it of committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli foreign ministry labeled the organization as “deplorable” and claimed that the report was fabricated, based on lies. It further stated that Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which triggered the war, was the true “genocidal” act.
Israel emphasized that it was defending itself and acting in accordance with international law.
Amnesty International, in its 300-page report, argued that its findings were based on evidence such as “dehumanizing and genocidal statements” by Israeli officials, satellite images showing destruction, and reports from Gaza residents.
The rights group called the report a “wake-up call” for the international community and urged governments to stop supplying weapons to Israel.
The violence triggered by Hamas’s October 7 attack led to the deaths of 1,208 people in Israel, mostly civilians, according to newsmen.
In response, Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has resulted in at least 44,532 deaths, mostly civilians, according to figures from Gaza’s health ministry, which are considered reliable by the United Nations.
