JAMB to Hold Policy Meeting on July 18 to Set 2024 Admission Cut-Off Marks

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will hold its annual policy meeting on July 18 to determine the cut-off marks for the 2024 admissions cycle.

This announcement was made in JAMB’s weekly bulletin released on Monday.

The meeting will be chaired by the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, and will include the participation of key stakeholders in the education sector.

These stakeholders comprise heads of regulatory agencies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and the National Council for Colleges of Education (NCCE). Heads of various tertiary institutions across the country and representatives from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) are also expected to attend.

“These critical stakeholders include Heads of regulatory agencies such as the National University Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), National Council for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Heads of tertiary institutions in the country, and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), among others,” the bulletin stated.

In addition to setting the cut-off marks, the policy meeting will also review candidates’ performances in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which took place in April.

The outcomes of this examination will be a crucial factor in determining the admission criteria for the upcoming academic year.

The policy meeting is a significant event in Nigeria’s education calendar, as it sets the standards for admissions into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across the country.

The decisions made during this meeting will impact thousands of prospective students seeking admission into tertiary institutions.

JAMB’s policy meetings are essential for ensuring that admission processes are transparent, fair, and in line with the educational standards and objectives of the nation.
