A successful joint security operation led by the Nigerian Police Force has dismantled a notorious criminal camp located in Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of Tuesday, was a collaborative effort involving the Nigerian Police, Military, Civil Defence, and Anambra Vigilante operatives.
The operation followed credible intelligence on the activities of the criminal gang operating in the area, as well as information gathered from ongoing police interrogations of suspects arrested across the state. Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for Anambra State, confirmed the successful dismantling of the camp.
The Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, praised the synergy between various security agencies and the vigilance of the public, which played a crucial role in providing actionable intelligence. He stressed the importance of continued cooperation among security agencies and the public to ensure the safety and security of Anambra’s residents, particularly during the festive season.
In response to the operation, Commissioner Itam urged proprietors of both private and public hospitals to immediately report any individuals presenting with bullet wounds or suspicious injuries to the nearest police station. This measure is intended to assist in tracking down fleeing suspects and preventing further criminal activity.
The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining security dominance in the region. Authorities assured the public that sustained patrols and targeted operations would continue throughout the yuletide season, aiming to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for all residents.
