The Kaduna State Government has successfully onboarded 2.2 million vulnerable residents into Nigeria’s financial system following the implementation of its Executive Order for Financial Inclusion. This initiative is designed to integrate underserved and disadvantaged individuals into the banking sector, thereby enhancing economic opportunities for these groups.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State made this announcement at the launch of eTranzact’s new solutions, Credo and PocketMoni, in Abuja on Tuesday. He discussed the impact of similar initiatives in his state, noting that his administration’s focus on financial inclusion has enabled thousands of vulnerable residents in Kaduna to access essential financial services.
Governor Sani expressed concern over the fact that more than 70 percent of Nigerians remain excluded from the financial system, a situation that impedes economic and social development. He said, “When I was elected as Governor, the first thing I did was sign the Executive Order for Financial Inclusion. I’m happy to announce that in the past eight months, we’ve been able to onboard about 2.2 million underserved, underprivileged, and vulnerable people into the financial services sector. Today, their accounts are active, and they are benefiting from various social integration programs provided by both the federal and state governments.”
He also called on both state and federal governments to fully harness financial technology platforms, like eTranzact, to achieve broader economic prosperity for all Nigerians. He emphasized the importance of using technology to provide financial services, which he believes is key to improving the livelihoods of underserved communities.
The Managing Director of eTranzact, Niyi Toluwalope, also spoke at the event, highlighting the company’s commitment to delivering secure and flexible payment solutions tailored to diverse lifestyles and businesses. He introduced Credo and PocketMoni, the latest innovations aimed at simplifying payment processing for underserved populations.
