The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has accepted the resignation of Major General Muhammad Idris (retd.), the Commissioner for the newly established Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, Governor Yusuf expressed sincere appreciation for the retired general’s service during his brief tenure, recognizing his contributions to the initial establishment and operations of the ministry.
While the reason for the resignation was not disclosed, the governor wished the former commissioner well, describing him as a dedicated public servant and a patriotic Nigerian.
“We thank Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd) for his unwavering commitment and contributions to the development of Kano State, starting from his military career,” Governor Yusuf said. “We wish him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement as he transitions into a well-deserved rest from public service.”
The statement further noted that despite the brevity of his tenure, Major General Idris played a pivotal role in laying a strong foundation for the ministry’s launch, which the governor believes his successor will build upon to advance the ministry’s operations.
