Kano State Governor Dissolves Interim Management Committees of All LGAs

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has officially dissolved the Interim Management Committees for all 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state, effective immediately. The announcement was made during a valedictory meeting with the committee members at Africa House, Government House, Kano.

In a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, the dissolution marks the conclusion of the committees’ six-month tenure, during which they collaborated with the state government to implement grassroots policies and programs.

Governor Yusuf commended the outgoing members for their dedication and efforts. “Your commitment in steering the affairs of the local governments for the past half-year has been commendable. You have played a crucial role in assisting the state government in its efforts to bring development to the grassroots,” he said.

He assured the outgoing committee members that they would remain integral to future initiatives, stating, “The state government will continue to reckon with you and carry you along in future engagements for the benefit of the people of Kano.”

In the interim, Governor Yusuf directed that the management of local government affairs be handed over to the Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs) in each local government. The DPMs will oversee local governance until the scheduled local government elections on October 26, 2024.

The governor emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, urging the DPMs to “be transparent and adhere strictly to the rules and regulations guiding your conduct as overseers of the local governments.”

This dissolution comes as Kano prepares for its upcoming local government elections, expected to usher in newly elected officials to lead local governance across the state.
