Katsina State Governor Accuses Government Officials and Security Personnel of Fueling Banditry

During an appearance on Channels Television’s program, Politics Today, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda made startling allegations, claiming that certain government officials and security personnel are complicit in exacerbating insecurity, particularly banditry, in Nigeria.

Expressing his concerns, Governor Radda emphasized the daunting challenge of combating banditry in the country, attributing its persistence to the complicity of individuals within government and security agencies. He lamented that banditry has evolved into a lucrative “business venture” for criminals operating within and outside official circles.

Governor Radda highlighted the multifaceted nature of the issue, pointing to collusion among government officials, security personnel, and individuals responsible for community affairs. He cited these factors as significant hurdles impeding efforts to eradicate banditry in Nigeria.

Contrary to popular belief, Governor Radda dismissed the notion that political motives are the driving force behind banditry. He asserted that the true motivations lie elsewhere, indicating that bandits are primarily motivated by economic incentives rather than political agendas.

Furthermore, Governor Radda revealed a troubling trend wherein vulnerable northern youths are lured into banditry with minimal compensation, as low as N500.
