Kebbi Police Rescue 36 Kidnapped Victims, Overpower Gunmen in Gunfight

The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully rescued 36 individuals kidnapped by gunmen along the Mairairai/Bena road in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

According to a statement from police spokesperson Nafiu Abubakar, the incident occurred on December 8, 2024, when a large group of gunmen barricaded the road and abducted 36 people who were returning from their farms.

Upon receiving the distress report, a combined team of police officers, army personnel, and vigilantes mobilized to the scene. They engaged the bandits in a gunfight, overpowering them and forcing them to flee into the forest with gunshot wounds. The police successfully rescued all 36 victims, who were unharmed and have since been reunited with their families.

Kebbi State’s Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, praised the officers for their bravery, resilience, and professionalism. He urged them to remain vigilant in ensuring that the state does not become a safe haven for criminals.

Additionally, he called for enhanced collaboration between security agencies in the area to effectively combat banditry and other criminal activities.
