Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has officially launched a youth empowerment initiative, disbursing N70 million to support 700 young people from the state’s 21 Local Government Areas.
The program aims to foster entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency among the youth.
During the launch held at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, the governor, represented by Deputy Umar Abubakar-Tafida, announced that each beneficiary would receive a grant of N100,000. This funding is intended to help them establish their own businesses and become self-reliant, with the potential to create jobs for others.
Emphasizing inclusivity, the governor noted that the program is designed to benefit both males and females, promoting a sense of equality among participants. He urged the recipients to make wise use of the funds to transform their lives and contribute to the community in the future.
State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nura Bala-Fingila, praised Governor Idris for this initiative, describing it as a “game changer” for youth in the state. He encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the support effectively to enhance their livelihoods.
The commissioner also called on the youth and the broader population of Kebbi State to rally behind the governor and support the administration’s policies and programs aimed at fostering development and progress.
