Kogi Government Implements Vehicular Movement Restriction for Council Polls

The Kogi State Government has announced a restriction on vehicular movement this Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m, to ensure a smooth and secure local government election across the state.

In a statement issued in Lokoja on Friday, Commissioner for Information Kingsley Fanwo explained that the measure aims to safeguard voters and citizens in all 21 Local Government Areas during the election process.

“The state government has directed security agencies to enforce this order, ensuring that offenders are appropriately punished,” Fanwo stated. He encouraged citizens to come out in large numbers to participate in the elections and elect their local representatives.

Fanwo reassured prospective voters of adequate security while exercising their right to vote on Saturday. He expressed confidence in the ability of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) to conduct a free, fair, and credible election.

“We urge citizens to remain peaceful and make their choices known through the ballot,” he added, emphasizing the importance of democratic participation.

The commissioner highlighted that democracy should reflect the will of the people, advocating for the power of the ballot over violence.

He assured that the state government would take all lawful measures to maintain order and promote the growth and development of Kogi State.
