Kogi Governor Seeks NASRDA’s Support for Security, Agriculture, and Development

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has called on the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) to support his administration’s efforts in combating insecurity, enhancing agriculture, and improving food security across the state. He also requested the agency’s assistance in expediting land reforms and leveraging its space technology and innovative capabilities to foster development in critical sectors.

The Governor made the call during a meeting with the Director-General of NASRDA, Mathew Adepoju, on Monday. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismail Isah, Governor Ododo expressed the state government’s commitment to collaborating with NASRDA to advance Kogi’s Geographic Information System (GIS). This initiative, he explained, would help facilitate land reforms, boost agricultural productivity, improve food security, and strengthen the overall safety and economy of the state.

“The Kogi State Governor, accompanied by senior government officials, emphasized that the state government remains committed to working with NASRDA to improve the state’s GIS, which will support efforts in land reform, agricultural sufficiency, security, and other critical areas of development,” the statement read.

Governor Ododo also acknowledged NASRDA’s technological expertise and urged the agency to deepen its partnership with the state government. He specifically pointed to the Memorandum of Understanding signed late last year between NASRDA and Kogi State, which outlines collaboration in key sectors, including security, agriculture, and infrastructure.

In response, Adepoju praised the Governor for his administration’s significant strides in infrastructural development and other achievements in its first year. He also expressed gratitude to the Governor for adopting space technology as a tool for tackling insecurity and enhancing the state’s economic and social progress. Adepoju assured Governor Ododo that NASRDA would continue to support Kogi’s development through sustained collaboration.
