Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, has called for enhanced collaboration in the enforcement of mandatory third-party vehicle insurance. This call came during a courtesy visit to the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kogi State, Samuel Oyedeji, on Tuesday.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, highlighted that the visit was aimed at fostering synergy between the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the FRSC to improve road safety and ensure adherence to the mandatory insurance policy.
Dantawaye emphasized the significance of collaboration among security agencies, stressing that a strong partnership is crucial for ensuring compliance with the third-party insurance policy, which provides essential compensation for accident victims through the insurance scheme.
“The CP further emphasized the importance of partnership in ensuring that road users comply with the insurance policy,” the statement read. “He highlighted the need for awareness and enforcement to ensure that accident victims receive necessary compensation.”
Additionally, Dantawaye underlined the importance of unity among law enforcement agencies to achieve common objectives. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the FRSC and other security agencies to improve road safety and law enforcement in the state. He also urged officers to prioritize professionalism and strengthen community relations to build greater public trust.
In his response, Oyedeji expressed gratitude for the visit and appreciated the continued collaboration between the two agencies. He reiterated the FRSC’s dedication to enforcing the third-party insurance policy and ensuring effective road safety measures. Oyedeji also acknowledged the invaluable support of the Nigeria Police in accident response and law enforcement duties, underscoring the importance of ongoing cooperation in intelligence sharing and joint efforts.
“The visit marks a significant step in strengthening inter-agency collaboration, ensuring improved road safety management, and enhancing the implementation of government policies aimed at protecting motorists and accident victims,” Aya added.
