The Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Edo State Olumide Akpata, has faced defeat in his own polling unit, located at PU11, Ward 06 in Oredo Local Government Area.
In the results from his polling unit, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious, securing 41 votes. Akpata followed closely with 31 votes, while Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 19 votes.

After casting his vote, Akpata described his voting experience as “seamless,” expressing hope that all voters in the state would have a similarly smooth experience.
Despite the setback in his own polling unit, the competition remains intense among the leading candidates in the race for Edo State’s governorship.
