Lagos residents commuting along the Agbado-Oyingbo corridor will now benefit from improved rail services, as the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced an increase in the Red Line train service capacity.
In a statement posted on its X handle on Saturday, LAMATA confirmed that the enhanced schedule will begin on Monday, February 10, 2025, offering more frequent trips, particularly during peak hours.
“The Red Line train service will increase its capacity, offering full service during AM peak hours starting Monday, February 10, 2025,” the statement said.
Under the new schedule, the Red Line will operate five morning trips and four evening trips daily, totaling nine trips per day. This marks a significant improvement from the previous schedule, which only included two morning trips from Agbado to Oyingbo.
LAMATA emphasized that the schedule change aims to provide more commuting options for Lagosians, ensuring a smoother travel experience with minimal delays. “The new schedule offers more convenient options for residents traveling the Agbado to Oyingbo corridor, reducing travel time to just 50 minutes and waiting time at stations to only two minutes,” the statement added.
Moreover, LAMATA announced plans to further expand the Red Line’s capacity with the introduction of three new train sets in the coming months, enhancing service even more.
This expansion is part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to improve public transportation and ease commuting challenges for residents.
