Lagos State Government Arrests 94 in Midnight Operation Against Rail Track Squatters

The Lagos State Government has arrested 94 individuals during a midnight operation targeting squatters along rail tracks.

The operation, announced by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, took place following complaints from citizens about illegal occupants and suspected criminal activities in the area.

In a post on X.com, Wahab detailed the operation, which covered the rail track corridor from Pen-Cinema under the bridge to Fagba Junction. He reported that the authorities recovered a locally fabricated shotgun, several wraps of illicit substances believed to be Indian hemp, charms, and a jackknife from the suspects.

Wahab stated, “In response to complaints from residents, commuters, and concerned citizens about the nefarious activities of illegal squatters and miscreants, the agency conducted a midnight raid. Ninety-four suspects were arrested during the operation.”

He emphasized that the suspects would face charges in court as part of the government’s commitment to enhancing safety and security along the rail corridors.
