
The Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to fostering a transparent and efficient procurement system. He made this pledge during the opening ceremony of the 2025 Annual Procurement Planning Clinic, organized by the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency. The event took place at the Public Service Staff Development Centre on Wednesday.
Represented by Hafiz Toriola, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing, Agoro emphasized the importance of upholding transparency and accountability in public procurement processes. He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to improve the procurement system and ensure that it meets the needs of residents, businesses, and investors in Lagos.
Agoro also noted that the World Bank had pledged additional support to further enhance the efficiency of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, which is crucial for the smooth execution of state projects. “The Lagos State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, remains committed to investing in the continuous training and retraining of procurement officers. This is aimed at equipping them with the necessary skills to enhance efficiency in service delivery,” he stated.
In his remarks at the event, the Director-General of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, Fatai Onafowote, assured the public, business communities, and investors that the state’s ambitious N3 trillion budget for 2025 was achievable through effective procurement implementation. He emphasized the importance of seamless procurement processes in realizing the state’s development goals and attracting further investment.
