The Lagos State Task Force has dismissed two of its personnel, Fatai Yusuf, 42, and Hammed Garuba, 38, for their involvement in theft during a recent raid. The announcement was made by the task force’s spokesperson, Abdulraheem Gbadeyan, in a statement issued on Friday.
Gbadeyan explained that the officers were found guilty of stealing mobile phones during an operation at a hotel in Gowon Estate, an area known for harboring drug users and traffickers.
The raid resulted in several arrests, but the integrity of the operation was compromised by the actions of the two officers, whose misconduct was captured on Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV).
The spokesperson added that both officers, who served as paramilitary personnel within the agency, underwent a thorough investigation by the task force’s disciplinary committee. Upon confirmation of their guilt, they were promptly dismissed from service and will face prosecution for theft.
CSP Adetayo Akerele, the chairman of the task force, strongly condemned the actions of the officers and reiterated the agency’s commitment to integrity and accountability. He issued a stern warning to all personnel, emphasizing that any violation of ethical conduct would result in severe consequences.
Gbadeyan further stated that the task force operates under principles of discipline, fairness, and justice, and any behavior that undermines the agency’s credibility or erodes public trust would be swiftly addressed.
He also mentioned that those arrested during the raid have already been arraigned, demonstrating the task force’s firm stance on unethical behavior and its dedication to upholding law and order in line with the Lagos State THEMES Plus agenda.
