The Lagos State Government has announced an eight-hour road closure and traffic diversion in preparation for the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, set to take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 5:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the State Commissioner for Transportation, shared the details of the marathon route and the associated road closures. The race will start at the National Stadium in Surulere and follow the route through the following key areas:

Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Akin Adesola, and Ahmadu Bello Way, with the final destination at Eko Atlantic.

To ensure the safety of participants and prevent unauthorized access, the race corridor, including adjoining roads, junctions, and intersections, will be secured with concrete barriers. Traffic officials from LASTMA, NPF, FRSC, LSNC, and LAWMA will be stationed at key points along the route.

The state government has outlined alternative routes for commuters to minimize traffic disruptions during the marathon:

The Commissioner called for patience, explaining that these partial and full road closures were part of the traffic management strategy for the 10th Edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
