Makinde Reaffirms Oyo State’s Commitment to Security, Donates Patrol Vehicles to NSCDC

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting security agencies in the state, emphasizing collaboration to ensure peace and safety.

Makinde made the statement on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan.

During the visit, Governor Makinde donated two patrol vehicles to the NSCDC as part of efforts to enhance the operational capabilities of the security outfit. He commended the NSCDC for its invaluable support in bolstering Oyo State’s security architecture, noting that the corps had been instrumental in maintaining peace across the state, despite the prevailing security challenges nationwide.

Makinde acknowledged the critical role of the NSCDC in safeguarding national economic assets, particularly the country’s oil infrastructure, which he described as crucial to Nigeria’s economy. He also praised the Oyo State Commandant of the NSCDC, highlighting his contributions to the Oyo State Security Council and the success of the state’s Operation Burst initiative, which has helped make Oyo one of the safest states in Nigeria.

The governor expressed his gratitude to the NSCDC for its continued support and pledged that the Oyo State Government would remain committed to providing necessary resources and assistance to the Corps. He emphasized that security personnel should not view their postings in Oyo as hardships but rather as opportunities to serve with support from the state government.

In his response, Commandant-General Ahmed Audi thanked Governor Makinde for the cordial relationship between the state government and the NSCDC, as well as for the governor’s continued support of the Corps.

Audi also commended Makinde for his leadership in driving development and reforms in the state. He assured the governor that the NSCDC would continue to work diligently to ensure the safety and security of Oyo State’s residents, noting the importance of the newly donated patrol vehicles in strengthening the Corps’ operations.
