Max Air Cleared to Resume Domestic Flights After Successful Safety and Economic Audit

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted approval for Max Air to resume its domestic flight operations following the successful completion of a comprehensive economic and safety audit.

In a statement released on Monday, Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, confirmed the airline’s readiness to resume services after meeting all necessary safety and operational standards.

Max Air had voluntarily suspended its domestic flights on January 29, 2025, for a period of 90 days, in response to a series of in-flight incidents.

The suspension, which was fully supported by the NCAA, provided the airline with an opportunity to address critical operational concerns.

During the suspension, the NCAA conducted a thorough review of Max Air’s operations, including a detailed safety audit from February 26 to 28, 2025.

This audit examined the airline’s organizational structure, safety protocols, personnel, and fleet to ensure compliance with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023.

“The audit results confirm that Max Air has met the required standards to operate safely,” said Achimugu. “As a result, the airline will resume its domestic operations at midnight on March 17, 2025.”

Moving forward, the NCAA will closely monitor Max Air through an enhanced surveillance program to ensure continuous adherence to all safety regulations, safeguarding passengers and maintaining industry standards.
