Mbappe admits disappointing La Liga debut against Mallorca

Kylian Mbappe has conceded that his Real Madrid La Liga debut was far from perfect, calling the 1-1 draw against Mallorca “not a good result.”

The French superstar, who had an impressive start to his Real Madrid career by scoring against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup, struggled to find his rhythm in Sunday’s league opener.

Despite great hopes and rumours of him potentially hitting 50 goals this season, Mbappe failed to make an impact against Mallorca.

Rodrygo managed to find the back of the net for Real Madrid, but Mbappe and Vinicius Junior often found themselves operating too closely on the left flank.

Mbappe, still adapting to Carlo Ancelotti’s system, acknowledged the challenges of integrating into the team’s star-studded attack.

In a post on Sunday on his Instagram story following the match, he expressed his determination to move forward.

“Not a good result. Heads up and already focused on the next one. Hala Madrid,” he wrote.

Real Madrid will hope that in their next La Liga fixture against Real Valladolid, their potent attacking trio of Mbappe, Vinicius, and Rodrygo can find the spark they need to trouble opponents.
