Mike Tyson Suffers Medical Emergency Aboard Flight to Los Angeles

Mike Tyson, the former heavyweight champion, had a medical issue on Sunday while travelling from Miami to Los Angeles, according to his agents.

Flight attendants called for a doctor to help the 57-year-old boxer after he started feeling queasy and lightheaded.

Paramedics boarded the aircraft to administer treatment as soon as it landed in Los Angeles. In Miami, the heat had already caused a two-hour delay in the trip.

Tyson’s representatives told The New York Post that he is now doing well, attributing the episode to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing.

“Thankfully Mr. Tyson is doing great,” his representatives stated. “He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up. He is appreciative of the medical staff that were there to help him.”

Ulcer flare-up symptoms typically include nausea, vomiting, bloating, belching, gas pain, chest pain, and fatigue.

The incident occurred just two months before Mike Tyson is scheduled to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Arlington.

The in-flight emergency was first reported by In Touch, which noted that paramedics were called to the plane upon arrival at LAX.

Eyewitnesses on the flight recounted that the cabin crew issued an announcement asking for a doctor 30 minutes before landing.

Passengers were informed about Tyson’s condition and were asked to remain on the plane after landing to allow paramedics to board.

“He was in first class, but we were an exit row,” an eyewitness said. “They asked us to stay on the plane and landed so paramedics could enter. [The stewardess] said something like, ‘He’s a really important passenger so we wanna make sure he’s OK.’ I knew it was him, but I just mouthed the words ‘Mike Tyson’ and she nodded her head yes.”

The plane was delayed for an additional 25 minutes at LAX while Tyson received medical attention.

In preparation for his upcoming fight, Tyson has temporarily given up marijuana, a substance he has admitted to using daily, as it is banned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

He has also revealed that he has abstained from sex as part of his training regimen.
