Negotiation is currently ongoing between the Ondo State Government and Organised Labour on the payment of the arrears of the new minimum wage.

This was confirmed by the Acting Ondo NLC Chairman, Oladape Ademola. The delay has been attributed to the need to adjust the template for payment.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who announced N73,000 as minimum wage, said the payment would begin in November.

Earlier, the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Ondo State chapter had called on the state government to speed up the ongoing negotiations on the newly approved N73,000 minimum wage announced by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The union urged the authorities involved to ensure the new minimum wage is paid soonest to cushion the effects of the current economic downturn in the country.
